Going to Court
Perth Children's Court building is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The registry counter is open from 9am to 4pm, but is closed from 1pm to 2pm.
Protection and care proceedings usually start at 9am. Criminal proceedings generally start at 10am. These times may vary depending on the court's caseloads.
Children's Court at other locations generally starts at 10am.
Those attending should arrive at about 9am to see the duty lawyer.
Be on time.
If you cannot attend a court appearance you must let the court and your lawyer know beforehand.
Address the magistrate as 'your honour'.
Always behave in a way that reflects the dignity of the court and the seriousness of the matter.
Turn your mobile phone off.
Tell the court if you need an interpreter so arrangements can be made.
